To celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month, Bulletin writers Ryka Aoki, Eric Cervini, Gerrick Kennedy, Greg Mania and R. Eric Thomas gathered on Instagram Live to chat about the ways they spotlight queer history, contemporary icons and the community in their work—not just in June but throughout the year. Watch the recorded conversation on @creators below, and keep scrolling to check out some of our favorite quotes from the discussion.
Dr. Eric Cervini authors the Bulletin newsletter Queer History 101, which recounts the storied history of queer culture dating back to Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations. Cervini also has a new variety show on the Discovery network called “Book of Queer”—a “queer history extravaganza” that includes music, history and comedy.
Gerrick Kennedy has been a culture writer for 15 years, mostly at The Los Angeles Times. He is most recently the author of Didn’t We Almost Have It All: In Defense of Whitney Houston. He writes the Coda newsletter on Bulletin.
